泰滴·皮尔斯是美国一位腼腆的中年已婚男子。他厌倦了刻板枯燥的白领生活，希望来点小小的刺激。果然一天他在路上偶尔遇到一个穿红衣裙的女子，竟然神魂颠倒，闹出很多笑话来。。。这个故事就发生在美国1984年拍摄的影片《红衣女郎》里。影片的一首插曲《电话诉衷情》获得了第57届奥斯卡最佳电影歌曲奖。

歌中唱道：

不是元旦，庆贺新年；
不是春天，吟写诗篇；
不是六月，举办婚筵；
不是中秋，月照人寰；

歌曲的作者及演唱者是美国著名盲人歌手Stevie Wonder斯蒂维·温德，他曾经获得15项格莱美奖。
《电话诉衷情》于1984年底登上榜首3周，接着在英国也上了榜首。
斯蒂维·温德在接受奥卡奖时表示，他是为囚禁的非洲国民大会黑人领袖曼德拉接受奖项；次日南非广播公司禁止播放他的所有唱片，斯蒂维对报界说“如果对我的禁令意味着人民即将自由，那么就禁我一百万次吧"。
