(1) 先谈歌名Zombie的意思
一、靠巫术起死回生的僵尸
二、迟钝无生气的人，麻木的人
三、动作呆板而不动脑筋的人
众所周知Zombie是一首反战歌，是反对爱尔兰内战，宣扬和平的歌曲。所以意思一（僵尸）和意思三（不动脑筋的人）完全与歌意无关。因此歌名Zombie的意思是：意思二（迟钝无生气的人，麻木的人）。因为战争令人民变得没有生气，而不是什么所谓行尸走肉。
目前网上更多的翻译是“侩子手”，实际上侩子手一般也被认为是麻木的人，所以还是比较赞同。
(2) 歌词的真正意思
一直被转贴的那个歌词翻译是错的和被丑化的，那英文歌词也被改过.。真正的英文歌词及有文学水准的翻译如下：

这是一首很正常的反战歌，完全没有过份的暴力渲染。

（注：歌词中的“It`s the same old theme since 1916 ”是指1916年，爱尔兰人民为抗议英国政府拖延实施1914年议会通过的“爱尔兰自治法”，于4月24日在都柏林“复活节起义”。4月30日，起义遭英军镇压，几百人被捕，起义领导人几乎全部被杀。这标志着近代爱尔兰人民统一全爱尔兰斗争的开始）


值的一提的是王菲早期的音乐风格就是模仿这首歌的。另外李宇春在超女比赛中也唱过这首歌，不过我宁肯她没有唱过，对她和她所唱的歌我一概无视。
